1.11.17 Day 3 Post Op
Munch was eating really well once she was home in her own environment. She used her litter box and was able to get in and out without any issues. She spent most of the day sleeping which was expected considering all of the stress from surgery, the hospital stay, and all of the medications she was on. Rest is exactly what the doctor ordered and things were looking up!
1.10.17 Day 2 Post Op
The second day post op I received a call from Munch’s surgeon. She was concerned that Munch was not cooperating with staff, not eating, and was unhappy with her environment. Per the doctors request, I went to the hospital to see how she would respond to my presence and determine whether or not she should come home to recover.
1.9.17 Surgery Day
We arrived at the hospital for check-in at 8:00 a.m., and I started to feel like I was going to have a full blown panic attack or pass out. The receptionist kindly offered to let me have a moment with Munch in a private room prior to taking her back to prep for surgery. I went into the room and stayed strong. I didn’t want Munch to feed off of my emotions and tense up. I just kept thinking to myself, “Am I doing the right thing? Should I just run out of the hospital with her before it’s too late?” We spent about ten minutes alone, and then it was time. Post-op Wardrobe
Our surgeon recommended buying newborn onesies to protect Munch’s surgical site since it’s uncovered without a dressing in place. I went out with my mother (Munch’s grandma) and her best friend to a couple of baby stores and gathered an adorable wardrobe for my fur baby’s recovery. Luckily, they are both in the fashion industry and were able to make alterations to fit Munch’s needs. Our size selection ran from ‘newborn’ to ‘3 months’:
